Worms Downunder

Worms, Vermicomposting & ‘Worm Juice’ – What role can they play in your soil regeneration program?

Jen Symmons is owner of Worms Downunder, a QLD family operated business (est. 2005) who design and manufacture large-scale worm farms, as well as running a commercial worm farming and liquid soil amendment (‘Worm Juice’) operation.

Shuttles of WDU’s brewed liquid worm cast product are utilised in soil regeneration programs by farmers across Australia, as far as WA. Their large-scale worm farms are also sent nationwide to farmers who want to vermicompost organic materials (manures, plant material etc) on-farm to produce their own worm cast output (rich in beneficial microbes, fungi, bacteria, rotifers, protozoa, growth promoters, enzymes etc). The cast can be processed into teas/extracts for soil drenching /foliars/fertigation. It is often used in seed dressing recipes to optimise germination and yields.

Jen will be sharing what is involved for farmers to undertake on-farm vermicomposting, as well as giving an overview of worm cast tea/extract making aspects. Questions will be welcomed with the hope that open discussion may benefit all participants.
